A time to say thanks - volunteers week

It’s been great to take a moment to appreciate our volunteer team over the past week. Thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Volunteers’ Week. Here are a some of the memories you shared:

all wearing their VICTA rainbow t-shirts, at a VICTA Family Weekend.

“Volunteering at the VICTA family weekend was so much fun back in 2018! The children & families were so lovely and it was great to get to know everyone and support in some fantastic activities. I’m really looking forward to family weekends starting back up again next year & seeing this wholesome team once more. Volunteering with VICTA has allowed me to meet new people and form life long friends. If you’re thinking of doing it – do it!”

I remember fondly volunteering in the creche at the Swindon Family Weekend. I volunteered alongside my niece Nicola Webb and Fauve. It was such a lot of fun and the young children really enjoyed all of the activities and being able to play together in a safe environment.

I volunteered as we were there with my two sons anyway who have Nystagmus and we know how much they have got out of the family weekends throughout the years. The weekends were also really good for their sighted brothers who felt that they weren’t the only ones with visually impaired brothers and everything becomes ‘normal’ even just for a few days.

A big thank you to all the other volunteers that make these weekends great.
