Join VICTA at the Inclusive Farm in Steppingley, Bedfordshire for a day filled with farmyard adventures.
We are looking for up-beat, energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to help on this Family Day. Your responsibilities will include facilitating social opportunities as well as supporting families during activities and moving around the farm safely.
The day will include a tour of a working farm, handling and feeding sessions with Charlie the goose, Alastaire the sheep, chickens, goats and pigs and a farm craft activity.
There will be space for families to picnic while at the farm and the local Rotary Club are providing refreshments for a small donation. There will also be the opportunity to purchase the farm’s produce. This is a working farm so children must be supervised at all times.
The Inclusive Farm is run by Mike, The Blind Farmer and co-founder, Ness. Mike’s ethos is to make farming and agriculture accessible to all, specifically individuals with a vision impairment. Mike was the first student with a vision impairment to attend the Warwickshire School of Agriculture where he graduated with a degree in Animal Nutrition and developed his love for pig farming and livestock. Inclusive Farm has been adapted to allow Mike to access all areas of his farm independently. For example, each paddock has different fencing and flooring to the next one for easy identification.
