VICTA is back at MK Gallery to explore their upcoming exhibition
In celebration of its 25th anniversary, MK Gallery are delighted to present Andy Warhol: Portrait of America, an ARTIST Rooms Partnership Exhibition with Tate and National Galleries of Scotland.
Andy Warhol (1928 – 1987) was a leading figure in American Pop Art; his collections from the 50s to the 90s include early drawings, painted silkscreens and photographic series featuring collaborations with Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor and Warhol himself.
This upcoming exhibition will include a survey of over 130 pieces of Warhol’s work; including the Marilyn series and two paintings of British art duo Gilbert & George, who were the focus of MK Gallery’s inaugural exhibition in 1999.
VICTA will once again be joined by Sensory Tour Guide, Julia Collar who will bring the exhibition to life and provide an accessible experience to explore the exhibition through smell, sound and touch.
Throughout the day, we are delighted to be joined by VICTA Changemaker and Arts Teacher, Ruqaiya Asim, who will guide your children through accessible arts activities and be on hand if you have any questions around supporting your VI child in their artistic journey.
Ruqaiya is studying a BA in Fine Arts at University College London and has recently won the People’s Choice Award in the Cass Art Prize for 2024 for her piece ‘Communication with my Guide Dog’. Ruqaiya spoke to ITV News all about her win: Blind mixed media artist from east London wins new prize | ITV News London
