Lights, Sound, Action! Discover the magic behind the theatre at the Shakespeare North Playhouse!

Join VICTA as we go backstage to offer 14 to 17s the opportunity to peek behind the curtain and discover the inner workings of a theatre.

As part of this very special day, we will be guided through the Playhouse’s very own Heritage Tour, giving an insight into how and why the Playhouse was built in Prescot and the unique connection the town has to William Shakespeare.

After exploring the Playhouse’s secret treasures, we will meet various theatre staff to understand their careers and learn about the different roles available within theatre – not just on the stage. Whether you’re into costume design or sound engineering, there’s sure to be a role for you (just let us know on the application form). We will also have the chance to get hands on with some artefacts from the original theatre, which stood where the Playhouse is now in the 1500s!

Lunch will be included as part of this day.

The Shakespeare North Playhouse is a 420 seated timber framed Shakespearean theatre that opened in 2022 to provide a cultural and educational venue for the local area of Prescot. It aims to bring people together to participate in performance, activities and conversation inspired by the life of Shakespeare, and his works. For further information on the Playhouse, please visit their website.
