This was my 10th London Marathon and it just gets better every year. London is the most beautiful Marathon in the world. I was honoured and grateful to run for VICTA again, it was so special.
How was training as part of #TeamVICTA?
I had my all clear from my physio in May 2023 from a hip repair, so I decided to build up slowly, training up to 120 miles a month which included running, walking and strength training in the gym.
Describe your most memorable moment in your London Marathon journey?
On race day Team VICTA was great, everyone was in high spirits – every runner and supporter kept each other running/walking especially near the last few miles to the finish line.
My most memorable moment of the London Marathon was when I went pass the church where the priest/vicar was giving out holy spirit (water) to runners. Also, when I went pass Woolwich Sikh Gurdwara (Temple) the support was fantastic.
What advice would you give to someone taking on the London Marathon as part of #TEAMVICTA?
My advice to all the #TeamVICTA runners taking part in the London Marathon is always stay positive and give other runners a boost as you go past them which will keep your mind off your running, and before you know it you will be near the finish line.
I always say run your first 13/16miles slowly otherwise you will struggle in the second half of the race. Easier said than done as I did the opposite in the 2024 London Marathon 🤣. The adrenaline kicked in and I ran too fast during the first half. I couldn’t control my pace because of the brilliant atmosphere by Cutty Sark and Tower Bridge. During the second half I paid the price, suffering cramps, but the support of the people got me through it shouting ‘Come on Super Singh’. The support from VICTA at the end of the race was amazing. There was a young lady running for VICTA and we really kept each other going for the last two miles.
