Do you have an interest in tactile art? Can you impress the VICTA team with your creative flair? Then what are you waiting for?
Louis Braille was a 19th-century French educator, and very importantly, the inventor of braille. To mark his birthday on 4 January, we celebrate #WorldBrailleDay to honour the braille code which has made written literacy accessible for individuals with a vision impairment. In celebration, VICTA launches its annual Braille Art Competition on this date every year. 2025 marks 200 years of Braille making this year’s competition even more special!
Entering the competition
The VICTA Braille Art Competition has 3 categories….
Category 1 – Braille Your Name (0 to 10 years)
The challenge for Category 1 is to make your name out of braille in the most creative way possible. You can be as creative as you like and use items found at home, it could be your favourite toys, mugs or oranges, the possibilities are endless!
Once you have completed your creation, ask an adult to photograph it and email your entry to activities@victa.org.uk. Please email your photo high resolution as a jpeg format. If it’s possible to post your art that’s even better as our judges will be able to feel your art! If you do send it in the post we advise you also email a photo to us before you post it.
